Waterfront Financing and Governing
Financing and Governing a 21st Century Harbor:
Exploring funding and governance for public waterfront parks, open spaces, boating and public access
The success of the waterfront will come down to funding for parks, infrastructure, and recreational waterfront improvements. While parks, piers, docks, and greenways are replacing deteriorating maritime infrastructure and revitalizing the shoreline, funding sources for capital improvements and funding to cover ongoing maintenance and operation costs are not clear. This panel will explore methods of funding the waterfront, governance models, and processes needed to ensure funding is distributed equitably.
