Regional Ferry Service
How will we move towards a regional water transit authority?
This panel discussed the policy rationale for ferry service and ways to improve and preserve regional ferry service. The workshop examined the viability of markets, the economic benefits and costs of ferry service, the need for integrating ferry service with emergency response, and the need for government to prioritize a wide range of infrastructure improvements for ferry service. Speakers from other parts of the country including the San Francisco Bay Area led the discussion, sharing their experiences on overcoming the challenges of developing one of the nation's preeminent ferry systems.
