5. New York State Outdoor Education Association is a leader in developing
the statewide Environmental Literacy Plan. Jessica Kratz, the NYSOEA’s
Metro Region Representative wanted to extend an invitation for you to
join the New York State Outdoor Education Association (see enclosed
NYSOEA membership form).
6. New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary is updating their map and database
of civic environmental groups working in the NY-NJ Metro Area. If you
have not joined yet, please fill out a brief assessment of your organization.
7. DEP is in the process of compiling a Jamaica Bay education resource
directory.
8. The Wallerstein Collaborative at NYU has developed a database of
New York City's Environmental Education Resources as well as a Hudson
River Teacher's Resource Guide.
9. East River CREW is publishing an estuary guide in early summer about the East River Estuary ecosystem, published with support from Partnership for Parks. The guide will be distributed citywide to the public through environmental and educational organizations as well as posted as a pdf on the CREW website at www.eastrivercrew.org. 10. Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, a historical ship dedicated to the education of the next generation of environmental leaders, has created an extensive teacher resource that includes resources like teacher training, an interactive fish key, and curriculum suggestions.
