Established by the esteemed Dr. Edward Williams Jr., it comprises trained emergency professionals and community leaders who strive to prepare and mobilize the community for emergencies. The organization’s mission is to unite, inform, and empower residents through proactive measures and educational initiatives. Dr. Williams, a visionary and advocate for emergency readiness, significantly impacted the Rockaway, Queens community through his leadership and commitment to quality healthcare and sustainable health systems.

Dr. Williams was among the most active and engaged members of the Rise to Resilience Coalition. He was instrumental in setting the direction and discourse of the Coalition’s advocacy priorities. Not only was Dr. Williams a strong partner to The Waterfront Alliance, but his tireless advocacy inspired the Waterfront Alliance to ensure that disaster preparedness and emergency management are a focal point of the organization’s program work. Dr. Williams was a mentor to many, including staff at the Waterfront Alliance.

Dr. Williams’ legacy as the founder of Regional Ready Rockaway continues to inspire community engagement and disaster relief efforts. The organization collaborates with various community partners to evaluate risks, plan collaboratively, and educate the public on emergency preparedness, extending its reach to Southeast Queens. Dr. Williams’ dedication to the cause, which began over two decades ago, is commemorated through a street naming in his honor, reflecting his profound influence on the community.
